Cherni Iskar is a river in Bulgaria, Rila Mountains, Sofia Region – Samokov Municipality, a left tributary of the Iskar River. Its length is 23 km.The Cherni Iskar River originates from the Lake of Purity in Rila, collecting its waters from the vast cirque between Zeleni Vrah and Kharamiyata Peak, northeast of Damga Peak, at about 2510 m above sea level under the name Pravi Iskar.It flows in a northeasterly direction in a deep forested valley, passes through the Govedar Valley and 500 m north of the village of Beli Iskar, at 1047 m above sea level, it joins with the Beli Iskar River coming from the right and the two rivers form the Iskar River.

Cherni Iskar is a small river which has a lot of stones. Very often there are man-made barriers.

Difficulty: class III

Usually in April and May there is enough water. But it greatly depends on rainfall and melting snow.
